Emergency Travel

Due to the travel restrictions and advisories issued across much of our territory the past few weeks, the question has been raised whether we are required to report to work under these advisories if able. As a railroad employee we are considered essential to Interstate Commerce and therefore are allowed to travel to/from work under restrictive advisories. Police or other emergency workers should not take issue with railroad employees traveling to/from work.

Also at issue was the possibility of a trainmaster or other management personnel picking an employee up for work after stating that they were unable to make it to work. If an employee states he/she cannot make it to work, it is a possibility that management could arrange to pick the employee up should there be a manpower shortage. I highly doubt this would happen, but there is the possibility.
